北京邮电大学人文学院成立于2008年8月,前身为北京邮电大学语言学院和文法经济学院。人文学院坚持以人才培养为根本,学科建设为龙头,教学工作为中心,学术科研和师资队伍建设为重点,夯实基础学科,加快发展步伐。 目前学院共有教职工116人,其中副高职以上57人,硕士生导师39人,客座教授10人。75%以上的教师具有研究生以上学历。现有本科生、研究生共600余人。
学科专业
人文学院设外语系、法律系、网络文化与创意研究中心、国际汉语培训中心、互联网治理与法律研究中心、中国电视购物研发中心等教学及研究机构。学院设有五个硕士点,即英语语言文学、外国语言学与应用语言学、民商法学、传播学、设计艺术学。设有四个本科专业,即英语、日语、法学、数字媒体艺术。学院在学生培养方面,注重加强基础、拓宽应用、加大了实践教学的力度,以能力培养为主线,目标是培养既有扎实理论基础又有较强实际应用能力的复合型人才,在科技、教育、经济、语言、文化传播、艺术创意、网络治理和信息法律等领域具有较强的竞争力。
近期成绩
人文学院坚持学校统一的办学方针,贯彻“教育以学生为本、办学以教师为本”的指导思想,坚持以教学、科研并重,不断开拓进取,取得了多项成绩。2009年语言实验室荣获了北京市高等学校实验教学示范中心称号,成为北邮语言教学改革的亮点,作为教育部指定的首批全国大学英语教学改革试点单位,我校的大学英语教学改革走在了全国高校的前列。继2006年我校成为教育部大学英语教学改革首批31所示范院校之一后,2007年,我院的《大学英语》被评为国家级精品课程。2008年,大学英语教学团队荣获“北京市优秀教学团队”称号。该团队中获北京市高等学校教学名师奖1人,获北京高校第六届青年教师教学基本功比赛二等奖1人、最佳教案奖1人。一项成果获北京市教学成果二等奖;两套北京市精品教材;大学英语四级通过率保持在90%以上,继续在北京高校领跑。全国大学英语竞赛特等奖及一等奖人数保持领先。英语专业四八级考试通过率在全国同类高校中名列前茅。对外汉语培训今年来也取得了丰硕的成果,并和国外多所大学正在研究建设孔子学院,已经取得了积极的进展。
人文学院在科研方面取得了丰硕的成果。互联网治理与法律研究中心和网络文化与创意研究汇中心已近成为国内知名的学术研究机构,目前承担着国家社科基金重点项目、中宣部、国务院新闻办、发改委、教育部、工业和信息化部等部委的多项重要研究项目,在网络治理、网络法律、网络文化等方面建立了较强的科研实力。目前已经承担或者完成近百项科研项目,省部级项目数十项。
就业去向
学院的毕业生以良好的专业素质、扎实的理论基础和踏实的工作态度颇受社会的青睐和好评。研究生就业率一直保持在100%,本科生就业率达到99%左右,本科生考取研究生及出国深造的比例为50%左右。毕业生遍布全国,许多毕业生在担任领导职务或承担重要工作,个人价值和社会价值同时得到了体现,成为新时期社会建设的主力军。
未来展望
在学校改革与发展的推动下,人文院将紧密结合北邮的发展特色,依托学校与社会的支持,进一步明确学院发展思路和发展重点,抓住机遇,创造条件,开拓进取,突出特色,有针对性、有重点、有计划地在博士点建设、硕士点建设、科研实验平台、国家级奖励与团队建设的突破中实现新的飞跃,推动人文学院整体发展不断上台阶上水平。

School of Humanities at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications was established in August 2008, the precursors of which are School of Languages and School of Humanities, Law and Economics. It has taken talent nurturing as its top priority, discipline construction as its leading force, teaching as its focal point, academic research and faculty development as its keystone, SOH has endeavored to strengthen the basic disciplines and speed up its overall development.
At present, School of Humanities has 118 faculty and staff, among whom 10 are full professors, 47 are associate professors, 39 are master advisors, and 75% of whom hold master or higher degrees. The school’s general secretary is Qibin Hu, the dean of the school is Yuxiao Li, the deputy deans of the school are Wenhong Wang, and Aijun Liu.
Disciplines and Specialties
The School of Humanities consists of the following departments and centers: Department of Foreign Languages, Department of Law, Cyberculture and Innovation Research Center, Internet Governance and Law Research Center, International Center for Chinese Language, Chinese TV Shopping Research and Development Center, and etc. SOH is authorized to offer five master’s programs, including English language and literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, civil and commercial law, communicology, and design arts. SOH is authorized to offer four undergraduate programs: English, Japanese, law, and digital media art. In terms of nurturing students, SOH has regarded students’ ability development as its unifying thread, and producing interdisciplinary talents with solid theoretical basis and strong application ability as its major objective. SOH has been taking consistent efforts in reinforcing students’ knowledge basis, and developing their practical abilities in order to produce competitive talents in the fields of technology, education, economics, language, culture, and artistic creation.
Recent Achievements
SOH adheres to the following guideline: “education should be student-oriented, and running of the school should be teacher-oriented.” It has attached equal importance to teaching and research, and made many achievements due to its consistent efforts. In 2009, the language laboratory was awarded model pilot teaching center of Beijing higher education institutions. As one of the first college English pilot teaching reform units designated by Ministry of Education, college teaching reform carried out by the faculty and staff in SOH has been in the leading position nationwide. In 2006, the school was selected by Ministry of Education as one of the 31 model schools in college teaching reform, and in 2007 College English was awarded the National Top-Quality Course. 1n 2008, College English Teaching Team was awarded the title of Municipal Excellent Teaching Team. Among the team members, there is one Municipal Outstanding Teacher Award winner; one second prize winner and one best teaching plan winner in the Sixth Beijing Municipal Pedagogical Contest of Young Teachers. The team was also awarded the municipal second prize in teaching achievements. Two sets of textbooks written by SOH faculty have won Beijing municipal top-quality textbook awards. BUPT students’ passing rate in Band 4 College English Test is over 90%, which has maintained the highest passing rate among Beijing higher education institutions. The number of students who are outstanding winners and first-prize winners in national college English contests always come out top nationwide, and the passing rates of TEM4 and TEM8 of English major students both come top among similar universities.
SOH has also made great achievements in research. Currently, it has undertaken many key projects from the National Funds of Social Science, the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, Information Office of the State Council, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and etc. SOH has gradually strengthened its research capability in Internet governance, Internet law, cyberculture, and etc. At present, 51 projects have been completed, 7 of which are ministerial-level projects.
Career Prospects
SOH’s graduates have won the favor of many employers due to their outstanding quality in their own specialty, solid theoretical basis and down-to-earth working attitude. The graduate students’ employment rate has maintained 100%, and undergraduate students’ employment rate is around 99%. About 50% of undergraduate students either get enrolled in master’s programs or further their study abroad. SOH’s graduates work in almost every part of China, many of whom are taking key roles in their respective jobs. By devoting themselves to the social development, SOH’s graduates have fulfilled both their individual values and social values.
Future Prospects
Thanks to the impetus of reform and development of the university, SOH will clarify its own development plan, seize every opportunity, and create better environment for future development with the support from the university and the society as a whole. SOH will make great leap in building doctoral degree programs, first-tier master degree programs, research and laboratory platforms, and team building by taking systematic and persistent efforts.
In its development, SOH will adhere to its guiding principle: Nurturing Talents and Creating Knowledge, Transforming Knowledge into Power and Serving the Society. SOH sincerely wishes to establish cooperation with different institutions and organizations to make concerted efforts in talent nurturing, research and development, and serving the society to create a better future for Chinese education.
